Diary Entry
Entry One: July, 2, 1787
Today was the day I met someone who has similar personality with me. His name is Tristan Pasteur, who is a common tradesman, met him in a cafe while finishing my document. He ask me about the act held out these days, where there might be a possibility peasants rose up and revolt upon the 1st and 2nd estate. He expressed his opinion with “cheer”, that he is neither for nor against revolution. He said this might be the chance to sell his goods more often then when the economy is stable. I am not exactly like him, but sometimes I do have strong feelings against the nobles when I see the scene where peasants starving off the road because of famine. Sometimes royal soldiers visit our town with brutal force and hurts the town. However, I still do not want to get involved into big situations. Day by day, many educated people visit my office for my help, revolt upon the high class. Unlike me, I feel jealous upon Mr. Tristan, who is eager to succeed business using situation like this. He is cunning and sly, where he not only sells practical goods in exceptional price, but to provide them with needed supplies for a reputation. Today was the day I met intellectual man, not in education, but who can utilize situations very well unlike I can do. I am sure he can be a great friend of mine, and the next time we meet, we will be discussing about the revolution.
Entry Two: August 10, 1789
More than a year has passed since I had a revolutionary dispute with Mr.Pasteur and another tremendous event has occurred in August 15, 1789. This day was my first and last business trip to F de Chatillen for my client living there. While on the road, I have noticed a huge factory and a man who just got fired. He was in despair. I could sense it. He was crying like an earth has just been bombarded. I took myself off the carriage and held out my hand to the boy. He needed help. The boy name was Maximilian Rousseau, 16 years old, a primary worker in Leroy company. I was convinced with the violation of human rights of man done by the company owner. He had been embezzling the workers monthly paycheck. The boy’s family had been starving with the fact Mr. Leroy refused to pay their salary. In fact, he was not the only one who suffered. Most of the third estate working for the nobles had difficulty with their lives. And now I had enough of it. With the law that was still on going, I decided to open the court. I explained to many people who watched our dispute. I explained about Mr. Leroy violating the human rights of man, which states all the man has equality to gain their profits as shown in the contract. However, there were no evidence. We lost. Because Mr. Leroy was a member of the Devork family, me and Rousseau was captured in Bastille as committing a treacherous behavior. However, our action was enough to motivate the citizens of France.
Entry Three: October 23, 1794
Tragic, pleasant of triumph, panic, were the words that can describe the year 1793 in France. After the storming of bastille me and Rousseau were set freed. I sensed the beginning of revolutionary, and decided to serve as one of the member. More then a 3 years passed, and many things has changed. Soldiers, who used to serve the King, has resigned, and the number of great revolutionists excessively increased. Men, were not the only one to serve this war, but then women as well participated. The time to meet the king face to face has came shortly finally.
Execution of King Louis XVI had been held since the third estates, the nation assembly, dominated over the crown. Excitement, filled over the a square, and guillotine swept through King Louis XVI’s head. As a member of phosphors, the problem has gone too far and was inevitable. Famine, the price of bread, and even wars with entire European nations has gone more deep. Nothing has improved from the execution.
However there were still some benefits over a France, where a draft of soldiers has cause the nation into militaristic. The wars were successful. Robespierre, who I thought of a savior of this chaos tend to be opposite from what I have expected. Reign of terror, we call today, was held out by Robespierre, executed more than 16000 people. The reason was violating the revolutionary thoughts or the ones who disobey him. The public later captured him, and was executed. These actions, I call, are tragic, but enough for our country to once more shine the whole Europe. We wish for another strong, and delegate leader to lead us to the utopia. We are waiting, we are fighting, and we are together.
